Republican leadership is part of the problem, not a solution ...In a recent article, The Incredible Shrinking Party vs. The Stupid Party, a contest to see which can fool the most people ..., we stated that the failure of the Georgia Republican leadership was obvious. The following article from the Ware Op-Ed & News shows that others are coming to the same obvious conclusion. Please take a minute to read it and then our comments are below:
After the The Incredible Shrinking Party vs. The Stupid Party, a contest to see which can fool the most people ... article we received quite a few responses from both Republican activists and elected officials. Both groups confirm that many are not pleased that the Republican leadership has promoted higher taxes, becoming very cozy with the Atlanta Chamber types and were wheeling and dealing with the Black Caucus and Senator Mary Squires types. They expressed concern about trampling the voters who provided their margin of victory last year. Did Georgians elect Republicans for tax increases? No they did not! Did Georgians elect Republicans so that their leadership could wheel and deal with the Atlanta Chamber and Black Caucus? No they did not! Did a majority of elected Republicans even support some of their leadership when they used the party for their personal agenda? No they did not. Paul Bennecke and his Republican pep rallies are only trying to avoid the real question. The real question remains: How long will the citizens of Georgia continue to put up with elected officials who represent special interests instead of the citizens? It does not matter if the collusion with special interests is Democratic or Republican. The answer to that question is up to you, the citizens of Georgia. If you are fed up with special interests running our State, you can end it next year in the 2004 elections.
