Georgia Republican Party abandons large portion of Georgia citizens, just like King Roy ...

Either today or within the last few days the Georgia Republican Party launched a new web-site. The site has a new flashy style and new content. While these are pluses, they seemed determined to prove Samuel Francis correct. It was Samuel Francis who coined the term "the stupid party."

There is a sizable portion of the population of Georgia that wants to vote on Our TRUE State Flag. Some will say it is a majority. Some will say it is not. But only a fool would say that this portion of the population does not exist. Or keeping with the theme established by Samuel Francis, only the stupid would say that no one wants to vote on Our State Flag.

But lets look at the message presented by this new Republican Party web-site:

They have added the new secret State flag on the front page (http://www.gagop.org). It may be interesting that they omitted "In God We Trust" or it may turnout that it is disgusting. Only time will tell on that.

So for those Georgians who believe that the State Flag should be determined by the citizens of the State, this picture of our second secret flag in two years is not a positive step. State Representative Bobby Franklin may be ecstatic that his flag is shown. But anyone who expected the Republican Party to officially stand up for our right to vote will be disappointed.

Continuing a review of their new web-site ran across this quote from their new: "Declaration of a New Day in Georgia: "

On the final night of the session, the House decided to omit the controversial second referendum and let the new flag face the present blue flag in a head-to-head match up on the 2004 Presidential Preference Primary ballot. The Senate agreed and the Governor is expected to sign the bill. When he does, Georgia will have a pretty new flag that the voters can confirm or reject at the ballot box. If the new flag design is rejected, we will return to the blue flag.

Unlike two years ago, the people, through their representatives in an open legislative process, were involved in the new design. I believe this fulfills the campaign promise of the Governor and will ultimately put the flag issue to bed once and for all.

This is in their words.

Some New Day! Look at what they are saying: "the people, through their representatives in an open legislative process, were involved in the new design." Yeah right! The only so-called public hearing did NOT allow public comment. Their pretty new flag was developed in secret meetings, not in public!

This claim that the new secret flag was developed in public is just a hoax and cover up. It means that officially the Republicans are no more willing to be honest and open than Barnes was. The large segment of the population of Georgia that wants to Vote On OUR Flag only gets a new flavor of lies. Instead of the Democrat open hostility displayed by Barnes we are getting Republican whimpism as practiced by Sonny Perdue.

Now some may not be able to understand what "once and for all" means. To me it is pretty clear what the official Republican Party position has been, is and will be. I remember talking to some of the Reps just after the brokered vote in the house that cost us our vote. They felt like the rug had been jerked out from under them.

Just a few weeks before they had mustered a 62% vote to give us a referendum, even if had been compromised by Rep. Bobby Franklin. Then poof, that margin vanished.

Lets take a look at this New Day in Georgia style of government.

Democrat Rep. Smyre openly admitted that there were secret meetings going on the night before the vote, these included corporate lobbyists, but not our folks. Republican Senator Price publicly offered and stated that "his chamber" would vote to remove the referendum. Now this is a strange pair working together!

Look at their own words though, first from Democrat Smyre:

Democrats have today to pull together a winning coalition. "Right now, there is no deal," said House Caucus Chairman Calvin Smyre of Columbus, who is also chairman of the state Democratic Party.

Then look at this from Republican Senate Majority Leader Price speaking about Smyre's attempts to eliminate Our Vote:

But if the effort is successful, Senate Majority Leader Tom Price said his chamber is willing to go along. He and six other Republicans voted against the same portion of the Perdue referendum this week.

Take a look at Perdue's June 30 and Dec. 31 campaign reports and the $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 contributions and the Atlanta Chamber statement that they were successful in lobbying the "new governor and legislature."

Here are a few samples from the campaign finance reports provided by the Division of Elections:

Sea Island Company  $15,000 (thought that the limit was $10,000)
Lawyer Troutman Sanders   $15,000
The Sun Trust Good Government Group   $10,000
Atlanta developer Tom Cousins   $10,000
Former Gov. Carl Sanders' law firm   $5,000
Microsoft   $5,000
Georgia Oilmens Association,   $5,000
Coca Cola Company   $5,000
Southtrust Corp. Committee for Good Gov't [sic]  $5,000.
Service Corporation International   $5,000
McKenna Long & Aldridge   $5,000

Wonder if the sudden support for the tobacco tax and sudden increase in corporate contributions were part of this public input on the resulting flag bill? The Chamber brags that they were successful in preventing us from getting a vote.

From their own words:

The Metro Atlanta Chamber won about three-fourths of its agenda, most critically the flag. Given a new Governor and new legislative leadership, this was a great achievement.

Therefore today's statement from the Republican Party, "I believe this fulfills the campaign promise of the Governor and will ultimately put the flag issue to bed once and for all" says a lot.

If there are elected Republicans in the State that do not agree with this same ole style of government, it is time for you to speak up. Your official party line is throwing away what majority you gained last year!

If there are elected Republicans in the State that believe "Even Southerners Have a Right to Be Proud of Our Heritage," it is time for you to speak up. Your official party line is only a more polite and whimpy form of King Royism.

If there are elected Republicans in the State that are tired of the State of Atlanta using political correctness run amok, tired of the liberal media pushing their anti-Southern and un-American agenda or tired of the corrupt multi-national corporation buying influence with our money, your silence is deafening!

"Put the flag issue to bed once and for all"  ... They must be reading King Roy's speeches!

We hate to break the news to the Republican who wrote this new declaration of a new day in Georgia, but the People of Georgia get to vote 476 days from now, even if you do not want us to!
