Governor Lester Maddox

In Honor and Memory of Governor Lester Maddox

In Honor and Memory of the Honorable Governor Lester G. Maddox

Former Governor of Georgia, Lester Maddox, has passed on. It has been almost exactly a year since the last time I saw the Governor in person. But every time I had the opportunity to talk to the Governor in person it is an occasion that I will remember.Lester Maddox

Meeting with Governor Maddox, Lt. Governor Maddox and citizen Mr. Maddox had something in common. He was the same man, dealt with his audience with the same respect and consideration regardless of the status that his current position held.

All too often, men who go into politics are corrupted by the temptations and power that is bestowed upon them by their fellow citizens. This was not the case with Lester Maddox.

In my opinion he is the most underrated Governor of this century in Georgia. His passing is Georgia's loss, but this man was ready to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,  and is now with Him. I doubt if many of his detractors will fare as well on their Day of Judgment which will come.

Our prayers are with Lester's family and his detractors who are in greater need of prayer.
