Chamber agenda pushes through the General Assembly
The General Assembly adopted several important pieces of legislation this year. The Metro Atlanta Chamber won about three-fourths of its agenda, most critically the
flag. Given a new Governor and new legislative leadership, this was a great achievement. Following is a summary:
The State Flag This was one of the most important actions taken during this session and our position opposing the Confederate battle flag won out. Georgians can choose in March, '04 between the current flag or a new design - the so-called "stars and bars" version of the pre-'56 flag.
