2009 Georgia LS Summer Institute

Let’s Not Forget Memorial Day

The statue of Jefferson Davis and his two sons, Joe and Jim Limber, is nearing completion and will be placed at Beauvoir, the last home of the Confederate President, on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. Remembering the Great Locomotive Chase

April 12, 2009, is the 147th anniversary of the "Great Locomotive Chase" that made "The General" famous. Jefferson Cain, an employee of the Western and Atlantic Railroad, was Engineer of The General. At 4:15 on the morning of April 12, 1862, Cain pushed the throttle of The General and drove the engine out of Atlanta, Georgia for Chattanooga, Tennessee as a cool spring rain fell on the city.

April is also Confederate History Month

April is an important month in America's history. The Great Locomotive Chase, where Union spies attempted to steal the Confederate Locomotive "The General" and destroy rail lines and bridges, took place on April 12, 1862. The month of April has become to be known as Confederate History and Heritage Month when proclamations will be signed by Governors, Commissioners and Mayors.

SLRC argues Burleson case in Federal Appeals Court

            NEW ORLEANS – SLRC Chief Trial Counsel Kirk D. Lyons presented the case of two Burleson, TX, high school students, who were suspended for carrying Confederate flag-pattern purses to school, to the Fifth U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday (Feb. 4).

Now...thankfully, Judge Roy Moore has afforded us the ground floor of the building where the offices of The Foundation for Moral Law are.  This is the old Central Bank Building located at One Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, Alabama.  This is the first bank that President Jefferson Davis went to seeking funds for the Confederacy in 1861.  So I am very pleased that we will be meeting in a building that is truly historic to the BIRTH OF A NATION! So this year, we are combining celebrations/commemorations....
