Huge Win for the Southern Heritage Movement
By Dr. William H. Swann

After a week when many News organizations and lying politicians were declaring the Southern Heritage Movement dead, the Atlanta Journal Constitution inadvertently allowed into print something true. This despite that being against their Corporate policy of only printing half truths and lies. That the AJC printed the truth about something, is almost as shocking as what they printed. In the Business Section March 4th, was an article by Scott Leith with the banner headline,

Almost everyone knows that all Southern Heritage Organizations joined a boycott started against Coca-Cola in November 2002 as a result of Coca-Cola Management contributing a minimum of $1,500.00 to every Legislator who voted to change Georgia’s beloved 1956 Confederate Memorial Georgia State Flag.

As one of the initiators of the boycott, I started requesting people start a petition drive announcing their intention to boycott Coca-Cola, so far I’ve received over 500,000 names on paper. The truth is most people probably forgot the boycott the next time Coca-Cola went on sale; however, it was and is clear that most of the people in the Southeast have remembered Coca-Cola’s treachery and have switched to Pepsi.

Mike Crane of the Southern Party of Georgia assumed a lot of the leadership of the boycott and created a web page, boycott.Coke.com where there was another petition set up, that one has seen thousands more sign up. Mike and myself as well as hundreds of other Southern Patriots have written and emailed Coca-Cola Management informing them of the boycott, and the numbers of people that have agreed to boycott Coca-Cola Products.

We have received form letters and letters from low level flunkies all with two messages.” First Coca-Cola doesn’t fear the Southern Heritage Movement because there aren’t enough of us to matter. Second, the Southern Movement in its entirety doesn’t have the guts for a sustained boycott.”

For the last two years we have heard suggestions that we were hurting Coca-Cola syrup sales. Coca-Cola has admitted as much in internal documents, but until the article in the AJC, we never had solid proof to hang our hat on. I call your attention to the following paragraph in the Article.

Pepsi's share edged upward 0.4 points to reach 31.8 percent of the market, the company's highest total in 12 years, according to Beverage Digest/Maxwell. Though small, the gain is important, given that statistics move little from year to year.

Statistics move little from year to year. We are getting someone’s attention now fellow Southrons. I understand that my math could be off a little as certainly different people consume different amounts of soft drinks but just consider this possibility. If our boycott has shrunk to only 10,000 determined Southerners, and they each used to spend $1.00 a day with Coca-Cola, but now spend it with Coca-Cola’s competition this is roughly how that multiplies out. $10,000.00 a day in lost sales, $70,000.00 a week $280,000.00 a month, and roughly $3.4 Million Dollars a year. If there are more people then that is more lost sales, I’d bet my life there are more than 10,000 Southern Patriots angry at Coca-Cola.

We are making a difference, we have concrete proof we are hurting Coca-Cola, there are enough of us to prove to Coca-Cola Management we do have numbers and we should have proved by now we have the staying power. So don’t let up, encourage everyone you know to avoid Coca-Cola Products, and remember every single one of you matters, every single one of you contributed to this success. Thank you all for your dedication, this is one win they can’t take away from us. May GOD preserve Dixie and the spirit of Dixie in all Southern Patriots.

Pepsi gained ground on Coke in 2003

SCOTT LEITH

Pepsi's U.S. market share inched upward in 2003 as the soft drink company snared business away from rival Coca-Cola.

Pepsi's share edged upward 0.4 points to reach 31.8 percent of the market, the company's highest total in 12 years, according to Beverage Digest/Maxwell. Though small, the gain is important, given that statistics move little from year to year.

Beverage Digest/Maxwell reported that a relatively new Pepsi brand, Sierra Mist, gained a spot in the U.S. top 10. Sierra Mist jumped into the 9th spot, besting 7Up.

"Pepsi had a hugely successful year in 2003," said John Sicher, editor and publisher of Beverage Digest. "After a number of attempts, it more than cracked the lemon-lime segment with Sierra Mist, and Diet Pepsi performed extremely strongly."

Despite Pepsi's upward move, Coca-Cola easily remained the biggest soft-drink seller in the U.S. in 2003, with 44 percent of the market.
