| Georgia Legislature dips into your wallet again! Here
we go again. The Legislature increases government revenue - a.k.a
MORE TAXES - and tried to tell you that you are getting a bargain!
So the folks pay more, so the out of touch elected officials can
spend more.

| | Revenue Neutral??? - For those who will believe anything! The 2009 Georgia Legislature is going to great lengths to find
ways to increase their revenue (a.k.a. taxes), while remaining "Revenue
Neutral." Does this qualify for a Duh! award?

Rome,
GA;
February 10, 2009.
On behalf of the fourteen State Delegations to the Southern
National Congress (SNC), the SNC Board of Governors announced
today its strong opposition to the stimulus-and-bailout bills now

| | Trade Deficit: August - 2008 - Current financial crisis is tip of iceberg "Foreign interests have more control over the US
economy than Americans, leaving the country in a state that
is financially imprudent. More and more of our debt is held by
foreign countries – some of which are our allies and some are not.
The huge holdings of American government debt by countries such as
China and Saudi Arabia could leave a powerful financial weapon in
the hands of countries that may be hostile to US corporate and
diplomatic interests.”
The
September, 2008 Trade statistics were released in November and remained at a very high and unacceptable level.
This article is of course a couple months later than usual. But with
the 'financial market crisis"
and "massive bailouts" getting 24 hour news coverage, it was obvious few cared about the trade
deficit. The media, the talking heads and elected officials are just
absorbed with other things. But now that the roughly trillion dollar
"stupid plan aka bailout plan" has shown to be inadequate, these
articles will resume.
In January this year - we started tracking our trade with our NAFTA partners
[sic]. In just January through September we have a trade deficit
over $114,278,000,000.00 or 114.2 Billion USD.
Note that NAFTA was passed
by a very narrow margin in 1992 and supported by both Democratic
President Bill Clinton, and the 1996 Republican
Presidential nominee - then Senator Bob Dole. So NAFTA was brought
to us by both the Republicans and Democrats.

economy than Americans, leaving the country in a state that

The huge holdings of American government debt by countries such as

The July, 2008 Trade statistics have
been released and remain at a very high and unacceptable level.
The trade deficit is just one symptom of the problems being created
by our failed economic and political systems. While somewhat complex
it does provide a monthly gauge on the flow of wealth into or out of
our country. Obviously a massive outgoing flow can not be sustained
forever.
In January this year - we started tracking our trade with our NAFTA partners
[sic]. In just January through July we have a trade deficit
over $88,235,000,000.00 or 88.2 Billion USD.
Note that NAFTA was passed

Principle of "limited
government" has been lost ...
We have posted several articles on the
growth of both taxes and government spending. Some have complained that we
have, like this article, focused on the Republican Party. There is some truth
to that. The main reason is that the Republicans are now in power at the
national level, controlling the White House, Senate and House of
Representatives.
Since they claim to be the party of "less
government" one would expect less government.

Hang on to your wallet! Here
comes "no tax - except this one" Perdue again!
If anyone does not believe that the Atlanta
Chamber and their politically correct buddies are still running the State of
Georgia, just watch where Atlanta dung flows! Or rather just watch how much
the rest of Georgia gets to pay for Atlanta dung!
Now, we are not being critical of Atlanta
for their generation of dung, even private homes nestled up here in the
mountains have to deal with this byproduct. But we have to pay for our own.
This concept is pretty simple, but it just not acceptable to the Atlanta
Chamber and politically correct. They want to be able to squander their money
on their agenda of ridiculous ideas then have the rest of Georgia bail them
out!

GOP Is Now The
"Fraternal Twin" Of Socialist Democrats
By Chuck Baldwin
The Republican Party's full-court press to
enact the biggest expansion of Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" welfare state
by passing the recent Medicare reform bill proves that the GOP is the
"fraternal twin" (Howard Phillips) of socialist Democrats. In fact, G. W. Bush
and his fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill make Bill Clinton look like an
economic conservative!
Furthermore, Robert Novak was quoted in The
Washington Post as saying the arm-twisting of recalcitrant conservatives
within the GOP by party leaders was nothing like many Republican congressmen
had ever seen. Novak quotes Rep. Nick Smith of Michigan as saying he has never
seen anything like it in his 11 years in the House.

More US funds committed to
foreign countries ...
With both budget deficits and international
trade deficits at record levels, more commitments are being made. There seems
to be no end in sight.
At the same time that benefits to US
veterans are being curtailed due to budget problems, the Bush Administration
continues to increase off shore allocation of US funds. There is something
wrong with this picture!
Some historians are beginning to compare
current day United States policy with the later portions of the Roman Empire.
The Roman Empire began collapsing due to similar massive expenditures to
support Legions in the hinterlands, raising taxes and destroying trade among
Roman citizens.

Georgia Heritage Council
points out illegal immigration cost to tax payers ...
Interesting that just the educational cost
of illegal immigration is more than the tobacco tax increase that was the
subject of the secret wheeling and dealing this year. The Georgia Heritage
Coalition is absolutely correct, our State government needs to be reformed.

The system is broken, are you doing
anything ...
It has just been a couple months since we published
an article, More historical information on your taxes and a look
ahead ..., that used historical
data to do a projection. The conclusion of that projection was:
Now assume that you have a grandson born this year. If this trend continues for another 40 years, as he
is approaching the age where he is getting close to becoming a grandfather what will the government be doing to him? The same
trend for another 40 years would produce these figures:
Federal spending per tax payer: $24,881
State & local spending per tax payer: $19,461
That is over $44,000 per tax payer. Tilt! System is broken! This is a virtual recipe for chaos. I hope
that you see the fallacy of that level of government spending. It is above the per capita income.
For
those that do not want to take the time to click on the link
above and read (or reread) the article a graph of the historical
data is reproduced below:

In Honor and Memory of the Honorable Governor Lester G. Maddox
Former Governor of Georgia, Lester Maddox, has passed on. It has been almost exactly a year since the last time
I saw the Governor in person. But every time I had the opportunity to talk to the Governor in person it is an occasion that I will
remember.
Meeting with Governor Maddox, Lt. Governor Maddox and citizen Mr. Maddox had something in common. He was
the same man, dealt with his audience with the same respect and consideration regardless of the status that his current
position held.

The Party of Spending and Deficits Is ... the GOP
Christine Hall, CNSNews.com
Tuesday, June 10, 2003
Think Republicans are the party of small government? Federal domestic spending rose
8 percent from 2001 to 2002, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, at a time when the GOP controlled the White House
and the U.S. House.

The Federal Debt Spiral
by Rep. Ron Paul, MD
The administration held a grand signing ceremony last Wednesday to celebrate the tax cut bill, a
marginally worthwhile piece of legislation that does reduce income taxes slightly. The East Room of the White House
was awash with cabinet members, Congressmen, Senators, administration staffers, supporters, and news media of every
kind, all gathered for a perfect political photo-op.
One day earlier, however, the President signed another bill into law without fanfare of any kind.
There was no press conference, no cameras, and no ceremony whatsoever. In fact, the White House issued only the
briefest comment on this particular bill, even though it affects the American people far more than the modest tax cut
bill. The reason for the silence? The President had just approved a whopping $984 billion increase in the national
debt, the single-largest increase in our nation’s history. This was hardly a proud moment for the President or
Congress, so the White House understandably kept the whole matter very quiet.

More historical information on your taxes and a look
ahead ...
The previous article demonstrated the amazing growth in federal income tax as an example of how the government
becomes addicted to your wallet. The initial income of 1913 was very minimal and had little or no effect on the average
citizen. In fact a large portion of citizens were not even tax payers.
This article will also demonstrate the continued addiction of government to your wallet. Most alarming will be
the fact that State & local government are now as addicted as the federal government was just 30 years ago. Always
remember that even these dismal facts do not present the true picture, it under represents the future impact of the national
debt and liabilities on the life of your grandchildren.

Property tax tops list of least-favorite taxes
By Thomas A. Fogarty, USA TODAY
It's scant consolation on this April 15, but there's something Americans dislike more than the federal income tax: local property tax.
Thirty-eight percent of adults identify the property tax as the worst tax vs. 21% who cite the federal income tax, according to a Gallup Poll. Smaller proportions cite the Social Security tax and state sales and income taxes as the worst, or "least fair."
